Last Friday, October 30, 2026, Collinsville Area Vocational Center officially opened their new facility located at 1050 Caseyville Road, across from the current CAVC wing of Collinsville High School and Kahok Stadium.

CAVC invited Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 and other local education officials; members of the design/construction team; local business leaders/partners, trade unions, professional organizations; and representatives from the State of Illinois to attend the ceremonial ribbon cutting and facility tour.

The new 43,000 sq ft building houses seven industrial programs: Electrical Trades, HVAC, Building Trades, Welding, Machining, Auto Mechanics and Auto Body.

The new state-of-the-art CAVC expansion will serve as a bigger pipeline for the trades, service industry, education careers and healthcare occupations.  The result will be more opportunities for students from Collinsville and eleven other area high schools who send students to CAVC; the potential to include additional high schools in CTE education; and a skilled workforce for current and future businesses.

In 2023, the State of Illinois appropriated $25 million (SB 250; page 1024) to Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 (the governing board of Collinsville Area Vocational Center) for the expansion and renovation of CAVC.  Most of the funding was for the construction of the expansion, but a portion is allocated to renovate the existing facility to help bring in new vocational programs.

New Building and Renovation of Existing Facility will Allow Future Programs
CAVC's Current Programs: Auto Body, Auto Mechanics, Building Trades, Electrical Trades, HVAC, Landscape Management, Machining, Urban Agriculture, Welding, Clinical Health (CNA), Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Cyber Security, Dental Assisting, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Food Service, and Teaching as a Profession.

New programs to be added include Aviation Mechanics and Avionics. Up to three additional programs will be determined by local workforce needs and labor market conditions.

CAVC has partnered with private companies to secure financial sponsorships for each of their programs. These contributions support the CAVC Endowment; helping ensure curriculum, equipment and supplies keep pace with industry standards.

Current sponsors are: Auto Body - Truck Centers Inc.; Auto Mechanics - Laura Buick GMC; Building Trades - Holland Construction; Electrical Trades - Archkey Solutions; HVAC - Trane; Clinical Health - Anderson Hospital; and Dental Assisting - Dr. Christine Brinley.

Collinsville Area Vocational Center's current enrollment is 680 students, the new expansion will allow additional programming and expand available seats to over 900.
