Principal’s Message

We had an exciting last month together here at DIS.  Our T-Bird Basketball program held its annual tournament for the boys.  Thank you to our staff members who volunteered their time to give the boys this opportunity to learn and have fun.  Our STEM program continued their great work, finishing up the Movie Magic Challenge.  I also enjoyed seeing many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences. I continue to be very proud of the effort your students give every day and the dedication shown to your children by the staff here at DIS.

Please support our PTO by participating in the Club’s Choice Pizza and Frozen Food fundraiser.  Sales continue through this coming Wednesday, November 8th.  Money raised will help our PTO fund many worthwhile events for our students.  You can order items online at www.clubschoicefundraising.com.  Use the school code DORR11 when ordering.

As we draw closer to winter weather, a reminder that the district can utilize a two hour delayed start in the event of inclement weather.  This would be utilized in the event that roads would become safer or the temperature would rise within two hours of the scheduled school start time.  School Messenger calls and local TV stations will report whether we plan to use a whole weather day or a delayed start.  There would be no delayed start on Wednesdays.

Hard to believe it’s already November.  The year is progressing quickly.

Yours in Education,

Kevin Stirnaman
Principal – Dorris Intermediate School

Please - No Parking Next Door at Glazy Square

In the past, the Glazy Square donut shop next door has been used to drop-off and pick-up students both before and after school. Please help us be a good neighbor and improve student safety by using our circle drive for drop-offs and pick-ups. Their spots should be for customers only, and can become dangerous during student drop-offs and pick-ups with their customer traffic.
Thank you.
