Principal’s Message

Welcome back!  I hope all of you had a safe, healthy and happy holiday break and are ready for a fantastic 2nd semester.

January will continue some of the great programs here at DIS. STEM continues their next challenge, Chorus and Band will get back into full swing, Renfro Runners will also continue.  Many activities for our DIS students.

Soon you’ll be getting some information on the Lady T-Bird basketball program. The season is open to any DIS girl who is interested.  I’m looking forward to seeing them in action.  The Girls on the Run program will also get going soon, providing a fantastic learning opportunity for our students.  Information will also be coming home on that activity.  Both activities are organized by our DIS staff, which is another example of our teachers doing great things for the students outside the classroom.

Ice, snow, or cold temperatures are a distinct possibility in January.  You can check the district website and local news stations for cancellation notices of school.  The District will also provide a Skyalert phone message regarding cancellation status.  As always, these decisions are made with student safety being our top priority.

Yours in Education,

Kevin Stirnaman
Principal – Dorris Intermediate School

DIS MATHness STEM Challenge $10 Fee
One of our most popular STEM challenges to date is back and bigger than ever. March was just too short to contain all of the mysterious mathematics that you will encounter this year. Plus we will tackle the problems of picking the perfect bracket and how to pick the best Fidget Spinners! We put the Math front and center in this STEM Challenge!

Please - No Parking Next Door at Glazy Square

In the past, the Glazy Square donut shop next door has been used to drop-off and pick-up students both before and after school. Please help us be a good neighbor and improve student safety by using our circle drive for drop-offs and pick-ups. Their spots should be for customers only, and can become dangerous during student drop-offs and pick-ups with their customer traffic.
Thank you.
