Character Education

Trait of the Month for August/September: Be Responsible / Be Respectful
Be Responsible – To show accountability. We ask students to be responsible for their own actions.
Be Respectful – Being polite to others.  Being respectful to staff and peers is a great make to make sure you have a good year.

Principal’s Message

I want to thank you for your cooperation in successfully beginning the school year.  The students are well into their established routines.  Our car drop off and pick up has been going very well, as has our bus arrival and dismissal.

Many exciting things have already started at DIS.  Renfro Runners began this past Wednesday.  The STEM challenge began Thursday.  We’re sending home permission slips for basketball soon and our Chorus practices are also in full swing.  We hope your student decided to participate in some of these programs.

Once again, thank you for all you’ve done in making the start of the year a success.  It’s great to be a T-Bird!

Yours in Education,

Kevin Stirnaman
Principal – Dorris Intermediate School

STEM Challenges

Movie Magic STEM Challenge ---- 1st Quarter (Aug 31- Oct 12th)
This challenge will feature the STEM behind some truly awesome Movie Magic. Do you have what it takes to walk through an ordinary Wardrobe door to find strange new worlds or is the Force strong enough with you to help you build your own Lightsaber? How about Ghostbusters slime, Hogwarts potions, Three Broomsticks Butterbeer and Vampires blood? We will make them all and much more in this STEMtastic challenge.

Please - No Parking Next Door at Glazy Square

In the past, the Glazy Square donut shop next door has been used to drop-off and pick-up students both before and after school. Please help us be a good neighbor and improve student safety by using our circle drive for drop-offs and pick-ups. Their spots should be for customers only, and can become dangerous during student drop-offs and pick-ups with their customer traffic.
Thank you.
